Friends of Phoenix

The views of parents and carers are very important to our school and our focus group ‘Friends of Phoenix’ aims to provide you with a place where you can provide your feedback and help us to improve the experience for all parents and crucially all students!

‘Friends of Phoenix’ is a small group of parents who come together with academic staff to share their views and help us to develop in a number of important areas.

As a member, there is only a very small time commitment. We usually ask for feedback via electronic surveys and run occasional monthly meetings. Any parent can attend a meeting which is aimed to be a less formal method and commitment does not need to be continuous like the PTA. A parent may attend one meeting in the year of wish to be more active.   As a member, you will be invited to give feedback on the ‘theme of the term’. Topics you could be typically providing your views on include:

  • School communication: what you think of the information we issue, including our School channel
  • Student opportunity: how we can improve what we offer to students outside of their lessons, such as through our after school programme
  • Celebrating student success: what as a parent do you think of our approach to rewarding students, and how can the school work with our parents to improve the achievement of all young people?

The group is positive, relaxed and simply involves you sharing what you think! All parents are encouraged to consider joining, and our mix of online surveys and face-to-face meetings means that it is easy to get involved! Of course, there are also opportunities to share your thoughts on other aspects of academy life and put any suggestions forward via PTA but they will focus more on fund raising and events.
